(3200) Phaethon

1983 TB. Discovered 1983 October 11 with Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS).

This object associated with the Geminid meteor stream has the smallest known perihelion distance for a body in a short-period orbit and is named for the son of Helios, who operated the solar chariot for a day, lost control of it and almost set fire to the Earth (MPC 9771)

Observation Proposal of Dust Trail of a Dead Comet Phaethon = Source of Geminids Meteor Shower! No tail and dust were found on 2004 dec 19:
